Stanislaw Dehaene, author of The Number Sense, might appear to be an ally of the right-brained Reform Math that has been spreading around the country. An article profiling him in this week's New Yorker shows him actually to be rather skeptical.

Dehaene prefers how math is taught in East Asia. The New Yorker article shows him admiring Japan and China in particular, but check out the readily available Singapore Math curriculum, and compare it to what your child is using.
