**Finding out how many people counted vs. finding common multiples**

**II. The 9th assignment in the 4th grade Singapore Math**

*Primary Mathematics 4A*workbook [click to enlarge]:**III. Extra Credit**

Why does the Investigations assignment, but not the Singapore Math assigment, have to spell out its purpose? (See NOTE in the upper right corner of the former).

Since you like doing comparisons, how about comparing with the new "Math in Focus", the "new" math from Singapore which further Americanized which some schools are now using instead of the Singapore Math. I heard somewhere they did journal writing for this version, and saw a homework sheet for fourth grade that reminded me of your examples from Investigations. Maybe I just got a bad impression, but it seemed like they were ruining the math to make it more constructivist.

Thanks for the suggestion, Anon. I've heard about this development, but haven't yet got my hands on Math in Focus.
