The Informed SLP attempts to discuss my paper on Gestalt Language Processing

Again, I continue to be amazed at what passes for debate these days. Whatever happened to discussing the actual content of the publications you think you disagree with? Here is Karen Evans from The Informed SLP:


Regarding my infamous slide about echolalia being suboptimal AAC--because, as everyone agrees, the meaning of communicative echolalia often isn't transparent and "detective work" is necessary--Evans has this to say:


So many steps are missing here between the last two sentences that one has to wonder whether Evans holds herself to the same communicative standards to which she holds others who speak to audiences of similar sizes but don't agree with her on all points.

Perhaps, though, she might at least agree that none of us can control the interpretations of those who have already made up their minds and aren't capable of actually listening to what the other side has to say.
